When I was a kid, every saturday at 10am our father would have the radio tuned to the local public radio station to listen to Car Talk. Today the world lost one of the iconic hosts of that show- Tom Magliozzi whom passed away at 77 from complications related to Alzheimer’s disease. These two characters played a defining role in my passion for cars. I was the only kid in my class that knew how to identify a bad resister on a blower motor by the time I was ten. But more importantly, it gave me great memories with my father. I would play in our barn while he would tinker away on his 1962 MGA or what ever project needed to get done. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my Saturday mornings.
Even though Tom and Ray retired in 2012, today marks the end of an error for me. Listening to the reruns won’t ever quite be the same. But maybe I will keep them playing, for my son. Tom may have passed, but the advice still holds the same. Well, some of it was decent advice :).
Thanks Tom and Ray.
And remember, don’t drive like my brother.
